Simon Shepard PGA

Greetings from Simon Thursday, 26 August 2010

Crikey, we went 14 weeks with hardly any rain and now it won't stop! If you are needing new waterproofs this autumn (I know we are still in summer but it feels autumnal) we have a top quality selction for you: old favourites Sunderland and FootJoy and two new (to us) companies: Galvin Green and Sunice. The Galvin Green waterproofs have long been considered the very best that you can buy and Sunice offer an extremely comfortable, easy to play in jacket, the material of which stretches in every direction, allowing you to turn back and through without knowing you have it on!

BSGC has another new County player to boast of: Will Robinson has been chosen for Hertfordshire and makes his debut at Pinner Hill Golf Club next Tuesday against BB & O. Good luck Will, we are all very proud of you!

Last Saturday brought our annual Pro's Day competition. This year we did a better ball stableford with the players having to play each other's shots after the tee shot. Andy Chequer and Mike Standen enjoyed the format; they shot an 11 under 46 points! Unlucky runners up were Alan and Carol Abbott and Phil Mitchelmore and Dave Sholtz who tied on 45 points. Max Wescott and Levi won nearest the pin on the eighth and Lisa Noble, playing with Dave Brooking, took the prize on 15. Thanks to all who took part. Hope you all enjoyed the BBQ!

In the Grannies' Bowl last Tuesday 3 ladies, who surely are not grannies, took the prizes; Barbara Eddlestone won on 37 points, Judy Kiff was second on 36 and Sandy Clare third also on 36 - beating a whole host of other too young to be grannies on countback. Well played Barbs!

There are just a few days left in our special offers, the Pro V1 deal ends this Sunday and the Vokey Wedge deal will soon end too.

The Bishops had their August Medal last week and in division 1 the Archbishop took the spoils! Well done to Richard, whose 72 beat Robin Davidson on countback. Peter Ancell was third on 73. In division 2 Sulgwyn Jones won by just the eight shots from second and 11 from third! His fantastic 65 saw off John Stewart on 73 and three others tied on 76. Well played Sulgwyn!

Regards,

Simon
